This is a very short story by Imogen Howson telling of Saskia, a beautiful young shape-shifter with gorgeous eyes and long sleek black hair by day, and slinky black panther under the cover of darkness. She happens upon a vicious attack on Chris, a hotel worker, saving him from further injury. This is where the romance starts and possibly the awkwardness of being a shape-shifter.
This is the first shape-shifter story I've ever read (I usually read psychological nutcase stories but I do enjoy teenage/young adult too) and I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed the story and can see this would be a draw for young adult readers.
I picked this short story up from Imogen Howson's website to get a feel of her writing. Her style is easy to read and get straight into and is descriptive and charming.
